A PUTTING GREEN & GARDEN
Oakland, CA | Created for a youthful family who find home to be the best
recreation spot, this playful garden meets some serious criteria.
Extreme sun exposure and proximity to a greenbelt called for site-suitable
native and drought-tolerant plants that will provide vivid color,
lush texture, and a bit of playful silliness.
Nature does have a sense of humor and it is very welcome here!
In the garden, a small putting green is surrounded by lushly planted
mounds and a child's sand box is bordered with large, round river stones that
feel special to little hands. Plants surrounding this child's area
are of soft and interesting texture, non-toxic, and not attractive to bees.
A simple pebble path leads to the colorful flagstone patio where space
for evening cocktails provides for another kind of play.
Custom puzzle-patterned bench seating and side tables continue
the playful theme.
